Auction result well in line with expectations

The work The entrance to the cave at Elephanta, Bombay by William Westall was sold in the Arts of India auction at Christies in London in September 2003. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,314.50 (€ 1,324.06) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Westall - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Entrance of The Great Cave Temple of Elephanta, Near Bombay, which sold at auction in July 2006 for GBP 3,360.00 (€ 4,918.65).

Die Arbeit The entrance to the cave at Elephanta, Bombay von William Westall wurde im September 2003 in der Auktion Arts of India bei Christies in London versteigert.
