Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Seven-character Calligraphic Couplet in Seal Script by Wu Changshuo was worth HKD 378,000.00 (€ 43,738.93) to a buyer in December this year. This price was achieved in the auction Cultured Legacy: Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy from the Chang Shiu Sig and Tung Shui Wah Collection at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 120,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wu Changshuo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Flowers in May 2016 with an auction result of HKD 28,750,000.00 (€ 3,322,968.12).
