Xue Liang, a renowned painter, was born in Jingjiang, Jiangsu in 1956. He graduated from the Art Department of the Nanjing Academy of Art in 1982. He is currently a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (NCCPCC), a Standing Member of the Jiangsu Provincial Political Consultative Conference, Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Traditional Chinese Painting Institute, Director of the Fu Baoshi Memorial

The work Moonset And The Raven’S Cry by Xue Liang was sold in the Sotheby's Charity Auction - Ai You Reborn auction at Sothebys in Beijing in September 2013. The price achieved of CNY 1,652,000.00 (€ 199,436.13) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as CNY 1,500,000.00 – 2,000,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Moonset And The Raven’S Cry is the most expensive artwork by Xue Liang that we have observed at auctions so far.
