This artwork by Yayoi Kusama achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in Hong Kong in May last year. In the Modern and Contemporary Art auction, the work Lights in Montreal sold for HKD 2,271,000.00 (€ 269,616.44) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 1,200,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Yayoi Kusama achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pumpkin in April this year with an auction result of HKD 30,000,000.00 (€ 30,635,869.57).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 89 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Yayoi Kusama erzielte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern and Contemporary Art wurde die Arbeit Lights in Montreal für HKD 2.271.000,00 (€ 269.616,44) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 1.200.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Yayoi Kusama erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Pumpkin im April diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 30.000.000,00 (€ 30.635.869,57).
