The work Starry Pumpkin Gold by Yayoi Kusama was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in May last year. It achieved a price of HKD 40,050,000.00 (€ 4,754,794.52), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 34%. Admittedly, works by Yayoi Kusama have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Pumpkin in April this year with an auction result of HKD 30,000,000.00 (€ 30,635,869.57).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 34 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Starry Pumpkin Gold von Yayoi Kusama kam im Mai letzten Jahres bei Christies in Hong Kong zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von HKD 40.050.000,00 (€ 4.754.794,52) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 34%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Yayoi Kusama auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Pumpkin im April diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 30.000.000,00 (€ 30.635.869,57).
