Astrid Krehan, a visual artist from Germany, uses photography as her medium of expression. Once purely a companion on adventure trips, photography has since become the driving force of her creative journey. Her move to Shanghai in 2014 opened a new dimension in her work. Drawn to the distinctive patterns, textures, and structures of the urban environment, she experienced a shift in her creative perspective that led her to explore abstract photography as a way to express emotions and visualise the essence of moments. Using the camera like a painters brush, Astrid converts familiar objects and scenes into new forms, textures, and patterns portrait in colourful abstracts.

COVID marked a turning point in her work, where photography became a therapeutic medium to temporarily disconnect from the outside world, but also shifted her focus towards environmental awareness.

Her relocation to Europe in 2021 further heightened her sensitivity to cultural differences, inspiring her to use her art to bridge cultural divides.

From 2017 onwards, her works have been shown in various group and solo exhibitions in China, Switzerland and Germany.

Since 2023 her works have been awarded in a variety prestigious International Foto Awards.
