Who am I – Art with attitude – and the courage to think outside the box
I am Ben Plaumann, an artist and painter from Berlin, now based in North Frisia, Schleswig-Holstein, where the tranquility, the wide open spaces, the windy salty air, and the bleating sheep on the dykes influence my creative work in a very special way.
As a self-taught artist who found his way not through academies but through passion, perseverance, and hours in the studio, art was never a hobby—it was an inner calling.
My works combine powerful emotions, richly textured surfaces, and a distinctive blend of modern abstraction and antique-looking gold and silver aesthetics—as well as intense colors—and are predominantly created in acrylic on canvas.
My paintings have been exhibited internationally, including at ArtExpo New York, in Berlin, at Red Dot Miami, and in the atrium of the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel in Miami, -also in 2026.

As part of the Atrium exhibition at Galeria Azur, self-taught artist Ben Plaumann is showing four acrylic paintings. The expressive works, which are dominated by shades of gold and red, can be seen in Miami until March 12.
