The »bidding war« ended at GBP 235.00 (€ 384.16), 18% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by A. J. Jansen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The four-masted barque 'Falls of Halladale' off Antwerp in January 2002 with an auction result of GBP 1,057.50 (€ 1,737.48).

Die Arbeit The steamer Berlin von A. J. Jansen wurde im März 2002 in der Auktion British and Continental Pictures bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 235,00 (€ 384,16) und damit 18% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von A. J. Jansen auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The four-masted barque 'Falls of Halladale' off Antwerp im Januar 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.057,50 (€ 1.737,48).
