Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Still Life Of An Earthenware Bowl Of Wild Strawberries, A Bundle Of Asparagus And Sprigs Of Gooseberry And Redcurrants, All On A Stone Ledge With A Pale Blue Butterfly Above by Adriaen Coorte was sold in the Old Master & British Paintings Evening Sale auction at Sothebys in London in December 2013. The price achieved of GBP 230,500.00 (€ 277,255.75) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Adriaen Coorte achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Three Peaches On A Stone Ledge, With A Red Admiral Butterfly in December 2014 with an auction result of GBP 3,442,500.00 (€ 4,431,639.12).
