This artwork by Akinola Lasekan achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in October 2020. In the Modern & Contemporary African Art auction, the work Portrait Of An Alhaji sold for GBP 10,710.00 (€ 11,892.54) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 4,000.00. Admittedly, works by Akinola Lasekan have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of a girl wearing a headscarf in March 2020 with an auction result of GBP 43,812.00 (€ 49,472.72).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Akinola Lasekan erzielte im Oktober 2020 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art wurde die Arbeit Portrait Of An Alhaji für GBP 10.710,00 (€ 11.892,54) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 4.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Akinola Lasekan auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait of a girl wearing a headscarf im März 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 43.812,00 (€ 49.472,72).
