Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Albert Bierstadt could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in November 2021 for an unexpectedly low price. In the American Art auction, the work Elk in Oak Grove (Tuolumne Meadows) changed hands for USD 806,500.00 (€ 714,538.85) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 1,200,000.00 – 1,800,000.00. Admittedly, works by Albert Bierstadt have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Indians Spear Fishing in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 7,321,000.00 (€ 4,705,012.85).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Albert Bierstadt konnte im November 2021 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion American Art wechselte die Arbeit Elk in Oak Grove (Tuolumne Meadows) für USD 806.500,00 (€ 714.538,85) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 1.200.000,00 – 1.800.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Albert Bierstadt auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Indians Spear Fishing im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 7.321.000,00 (€ 4.705.012,85).
