Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2020 Christies in London held the auction The Philosophy of Gordon Watson: Collecting Contemporary Art, Silver and Design, which included the work Escalator by Amy Sillman. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 43,750.00 (€ 48,839.76) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Amy Sillman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Your Affection in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 870,000.00 (€ 770,798.26).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2020 führte Christies in London die Auktion The Philosophy of Gordon Watson: Collecting Contemporary Art, Silver and Design durch, in der auch die Arbeit Escalator von Amy Sillman zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 43.750,00 (€ 48.839,76) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Amy Sillman erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Your Affection im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 870.000,00 (€ 770.798,26).
