Upper estimated price slightly exceeded

Here, the upper estimate of GBP 4,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 4,250.00 (€ 4,791.74). Admittedly, works by Arthur Dampier May have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Before the bath in July 2018 with an auction result of GBP 30,000.00 (€ 33,636.60).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Portrait of a girl, three-quarter-length, in a yellow dress, yellow hat and red necklace von Arthur Dampier May kam im Februar 2009 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 4.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 4.250,00 (€ 4.791,74) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Arthur Dampier May auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Before the bath im Juli 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 30.000,00 (€ 33.636,60).
