Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Barbara Kruger achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in October 2020. In the Choice Works auction, the work Untitled (Who Will Write The History Of Tears?) sold for USD 119,700.00 (€ 102,773.25) - well above the upper estimate of USD 40,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Barbara Kruger achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (Your Manias Become Science) in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 1,170,000.00 (€ 1,036,590.77).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Barbara Kruger erzielte im Oktober 2020 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Choice Works wurde die Arbeit Untitled (Who Will Write The History Of Tears?) für USD 119.700,00 (€ 102.773,25) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 40.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Barbara Kruger erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled (Your Manias Become Science) im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.170.000,00 (€ 1.036.590,77).
