Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Nativity by Benozzo Gozzoli was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 150,000.00 – 200,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 162,500.00 (€ 178,414.20) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Benozzo Gozzoli have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Lamentation Over The Dead Christ in July 2001 with an auction result of GBP 641,750.00 (€ 1,045,043.53).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Nativity von Benozzo Gozzoli kam im Juli 2019 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 150.000,00 – 200.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 162.500,00 (€ 178.414,20) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Benozzo Gozzoli auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Lamentation Over The Dead Christ im Juli 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 641.750,00 (€ 1.045.043,53).
