Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2012 Sothebys in New York held the auction Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art, which included this untitled work by Biren De. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 35,000.00 (€ 27,224.64) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Biren De - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work September '73, which sold at auction in October 2018 for GBP 60,000.00 (€ 67,661.49).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2012 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Biren De zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 35.000,00 (€ 27.224,64) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Biren De mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit September '73 beobachtet, die im Oktober 2018 für GBP 60.000,00 (€ 67.661,49) versteigert wurde.
