Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Spice Rack (A Little bit of Spice), 1990 by Brian Blanchard was auctioned at Bonhams in Skinner Marlborough, Massachusetts in September this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of AUD 500.00 – 600.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for AUD 399.75 (€ 243.65). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Brian Blanchard - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Still Life, 1986, which sold at auction in August this year for AUD 922.50 (€ 550.49).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Spice Rack (A Little bit of Spice), 1990 von Brian Blanchard im September diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in Skinner Marlborough, Massachusetts versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 500,00 – 600,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für AUD 399,75 (€ 243,65) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Brian Blanchard mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Still Life, 1986 beobachtet, die im August diesen Jahres für AUD 922,50 (€ 550,49) versteigert wurde.
