The work The eruption of Vesuvius in 1794; The eruption of Vesuvius from Torre del Greco in 1794; The eruption of Vesuvius in 1822 seen from the Bay of Naples; and A lava flow during the eruption of Vesuvius in 1822 by Camillo da Vito was sold in the Old Master Drawings at CSK auction at Christies in London in April 2000. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 3,290.00 (€ 5,632.35). Admittedly, works by Camillo da Vito have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Four views of the Vesuvius erupting in January last year with an auction result of USD 35,000.00 (€ 31,216.55).

Die Arbeit The eruption of Vesuvius in 1794; The eruption of Vesuvius from Torre del Greco in 1794; The eruption of Vesuvius in 1822 seen from the Bay of Naples; and A lava flow during the eruption of Vesuvius in 1822 von Camillo da Vito wurde im April 2000 in der Auktion Old Master Drawings at CSK bei Christies in London versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 3.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 3.290,00 (€ 5.632,35) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Camillo da Vito auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Four views of the Vesuvius erupting im Januar letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 35.000,00 (€ 31.216,55).
