The work Prayers at sunset. Ushibuse, 1916. Taj-Mahal. Twilight., 1916 by Charles Bartlett was sold in the Japanese and Korean Art auction at Christies in New York in September 2007. The »bidding war« ended at USD 2,500.00 (€ 1,758.21), 39% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Bartlett achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Surf Riders, Honolulu, circa 1921 in September last year with an auction result of USD 31,875.00 (€ 32,582.03).

Die Arbeit Prayers at sunset. Ushibuse, 1916. Taj-Mahal.
