Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Evening Near Princetown, Devon by Charles Edward Brittan was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2006, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 192.00 (€ 281.07). Admittedly, works by Charles Edward Brittan have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sheep grazing on the moors below low-lying clouds (illustrated); and Dusk, on the moors in September 2005 with an auction result of GBP 1,560.00 (€ 2,289.41).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Evening Near Princetown, Devon von Charles Edward Brittan im Juli 2006 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 400,00 – 600,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 192,00 (€ 281,07) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Charles Edward Brittan auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Sheep grazing on the moors below low-lying clouds (illustrated); and Dusk, on the moors im September 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.560,00 (€ 2.289,41).
