Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Woodland Cottage by Charles Herbert Eastlake was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 500.00 – 800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 480.00 (€ 705.18). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Herbert Eastlake - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Riverside cottages at twilight, which sold at auction in October 2002 for GBP 1,645.00 (€ 2,602.10).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A Woodland Cottage von Charles Herbert Eastlake im November 2005 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 500,00 – 800,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 480,00 (€ 705,18) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Charles Herbert Eastlake mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Riverside cottages at twilight beobachtet, die im Oktober 2002 für GBP 1.645,00 (€ 2.602,10) versteigert wurde.
