In March 2003 Christies in New York held the auction Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work Grenoble by Charles Prendergast. The »bidding war« ended at USD 8,365.00 (€ 7,674.31), 39% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Prendergast achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Fantasy in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 704,075.00 (€ 631,514.04).

Im März 2003 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Grenoble von Charles Prendergast zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 8.365,00 (€ 7.674,31) und damit 39% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Charles Prendergast erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Fantasy im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 704.075,00 (€ 631.514,04).
