Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Cheong Soo Pieng achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2018. In the Asian 20th Century Art (Day Sale) auction, the work Durian Seller sold for HKD 5,140,000.00 (€ 561,568.12) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 1,800,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Cheong Soo Pieng - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Nature's Inspiration, which sold at auction in November this year for HKD 11,507,000.00 (€ 1,350,289.70).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Cheong Soo Pieng erzielte im Mai 2018 bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Asian 20th Century Art (Day Sale) wurde die Arbeit Durian Seller für HKD 5.140.000,00 (€ 561.568,12) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 1.800.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Cheong Soo Pieng mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Nature's Inspiration beobachtet, die im November diesen Jahres für HKD 11.507.000,00 (€ 1.350.289,70) versteigert wurde.
