Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Seated Ladies by Cheong Soo Pieng was worth HKD 756,000.00 (€ 85,632.80) to a buyer in December 2021. This price was achieved in the auction Modern Art Online: From Le Pho to Sanyu at Sothebys in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 250,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cheong Soo Pieng achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nature's Inspiration in November this year with an auction result of HKD 11,507,000.00 (€ 1,350,289.70).

Die Arbeit Seated Ladies von Cheong Soo Pieng war einem Käufer im Dezember 2021 HKD 756.000,00 (€ 85.632,80) wert. Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion Modern Art Online: From Le Pho to Sanyu bei Sothebys in Hong Kong erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 250.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Cheong Soo Pieng erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Nature's Inspiration im November diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 11.507.000,00 (€ 1.350.289,70).
