This price was achieved in the auction Indian and Southeast Asian Art including Modern and at Christies in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 15,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Chittrovanu Mazumdar; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot without title sold at auction in May 2008 with the realized price of HKD 847,500.00 (€ 69,771.69).
