This artwork by Chobunsai Eishi achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in June 2017. In the From Artist to Woodblock: Japanese Prints Online auction, the work Portrait of a Courtesan sold for GBP 4,000.00 (€ 4,555.25) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Chobunsai Eishi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Beauty writing a poem on a fan in March 2008 with an auction result of USD 229,000.00 (€ 144,890.86).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Chobunsai Eishi erzielte im Juni 2017 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion From Artist to Woodblock: Japanese Prints Online wurde die Arbeit Portrait of a Courtesan für GBP 4.000,00 (€ 4.555,25) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Chobunsai Eishi erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Beauty writing a poem on a fan im März 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 229.000,00 (€ 144.890,86).
