In July 2018 Christies in London held the auction From Artist to Woodblock: Japanese Prints Online, which included the work The Chojiya Pleasure House by Day (Chojiya hiru-mise) by Chokosai Eisho. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,681.83), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Chokosai Eisho have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Twelve prints from the erotic set entitled Fumi no kiyogaki (Freshly issued love letters), unsigned--good impressions, color faded, centerfolds, creased, some stained in March 2001 with an auction result of USD 12,925.00 (€ 14,697.52).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im Juli 2018 führte Christies in London die Auktion From Artist to Woodblock: Japanese Prints Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Chojiya Pleasure House by Day (Chojiya hiru-mise) von Chokosai Eisho zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.500,00 (€ 1.681,83) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Chokosai Eisho auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Twelve prints from the erotic set entitled Fumi no kiyogaki (Freshly issued love letters), unsigned--good impressions, color faded, centerfolds, creased, some stained im März 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 12.925,00 (€ 14.697,52).
