In September 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master Paintings, which included the work Architectural Palace Capriccio With Figures Conversing; Architectural Ruins With Figures Beside A Fountain by Christian Stöcklin. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 5,670.00 (€ 6,252.10), 42% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Christian Stöcklin have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work An Imaginary Church Interior With Figures in June 2013 with an auction result of USD 40,000.00 (€ 30,745.58).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 42 % übertroffen
Im September 2020 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Architectural Palace Capriccio With Figures Conversing; Architectural Ruins With Figures Beside A Fountain von Christian Stöcklin zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 5.670,00 (€ 6.252,10) und damit 42% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Christian Stöcklin auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit An Imaginary Church Interior With Figures im Juni 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 40.000,00 (€ 30.745,58).
