Auction result well in line with expectations

In September 2021 Bonhams in New York held the auction Wrap It UpThe Legacy of Christo & Jeanne-Claude, which included the work Surface d'Empaquetage (Packing surface) 25 x 18 1/2in (62 x 47cm) by Christo. The price achieved of USD 17,812.50 (€ 15,386.11) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Christo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Umbrellas (Joint project for Japan and USA) in February 2021 with an auction result of EUR 1,706,500.00.

Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen

Im September 2021 führte Bonhams in New York die Auktion Wrap It UpThe Legacy of Christo & Jeanne-Claude durch, in der auch die Arbeit Surface d'Empaquetage (Packing surface) 25 x 18 1/2in (62 x 47cm) von Christo zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 17.812,50 (€ 15.386,11) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Christo erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Umbrellas (Joint project for Japan and USA) im Februar 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 1.706.500,00.
