Auction result well in line with expectations
In November last year Christies in New York held the auction 21st Century Evening Sale, which included this untitled work by Christopher Wool. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000,000.00 – 12,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,977,500.00 (€ 8,696,599.83) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Christopher Wool - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (Riot), which sold at auction in May 2015 for USD 29,930,000.00 (€ 27,223,940.33).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion 21st Century Evening Sale durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Christopher Wool zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000.000,00 – 12.000.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 8.977.500,00 (€ 8.696.599,83) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Christopher Wool mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled (Riot) beobachtet, die im Mai 2015 für USD 29.930.000,00 (€ 27.223.940,33) versteigert wurde.
