Auction result well in line with expectations

The work A gentleman out pheasant shooting with two pointers by Clifton Tomson was sold in the SPORTING ART auction at Christies in London in December 2001. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 10,575.00 (€ 17,278.08) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Clifton Tomson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Finish Of The St. Leger Stakes, 1815, which sold at auction in December 2012 for GBP 55,250.00 (€ 68,138.59).
