Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Hand Sculpture (Turning Form) by Barbara Hepworth was worth GBP 1,426,500.00 (€ 2,031,837.34) to a buyer in November 2015. This price was achieved in the auction Modern British and Irish Art Evening Sale at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 450,000.00 many times over. Admittedly, works by Barbara Hepworth have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Family of Man: Ancestor II in November this year with an auction result of USD 11,565,000.00 (€ 10,602,310.23).

Die Arbeit Hand Sculpture (Turning Form) von Barbara Hepworth war einem Käufer im November 2015 GBP 1.426.500,00 (€ 2.031.837,34) wert. Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion Modern British and Irish Art Evening Sale bei Christies in London erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 450.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Barbara Hepworth auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Family of Man: Ancestor II im November diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 11.565.000,00 (€ 10.602.310,23).
