In January this year Christies held the auction Outsider and Vernacular Art, which included the work Nativity by David Butler. The »bidding war« ended at USD 22,680.00 (€ 20,887.82), 51% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by David Butler - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Walking Stick with Figure, circa 1975, which sold at auction in February last year for USD 62,500.00 (€ 55,684.25).

Im Januar diesen Jahres führte Christies die Auktion Outsider and Vernacular Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Nativity von David Butler zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 22.680,00 (€ 20.887,82) und damit 51% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von David Butler mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Walking Stick with Figure, circa 1975 beobachtet, die im Februar letzten Jahres für USD 62.500,00 (€ 55.684,25) versteigert wurde.
