Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2017 Christies in New York held the auction Photographs Including Property Sold to Benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation, which included the work Bishop on her Bed, Santa Barbara, Cal., 1964 by Diane Arbus. The price achieved of USD 26,250.00 (€ 24,093.62) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Diane Arbus achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A box of ten photographs in May this year with an auction result of USD 1,008,000.00 (€ 946,123.52).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April 2017 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Photographs Including Property Sold to Benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation durch, in der auch die Arbeit Bishop on her Bed, Santa Barbara, Cal., 1964 von Diane Arbus zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 26.250,00 (€ 24.093,62) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Diane Arbus erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A box of ten photographs im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.008.000,00 (€ 946.123,52).
