Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In November 2015 Christies in London held the auction Christie's Interiors, which included the work Queen Philippa Supplicating King Edward To Spare The Lives Of The Six Burghers Of Calais by Edward Bird. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 6,875.00 (€ 9,792.42). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edward Bird - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The departure to London, which sold at auction in March 2000 for GBP 18,400.00 (€ 30,600.04).

Im November 2015 führte Christies in London die Auktion Christie's Interiors durch, in der auch die Arbeit Queen Philippa Supplicating King Edward To Spare The Lives Of The Six Burghers Of Calais von Edward Bird zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 6.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 6.875,00 (€ 9.792,42) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Edward Bird mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The departure to London beobachtet, die im März 2000 für GBP 18.400,00 (€ 30.600,04) versteigert wurde.
