Auction result misses estimated price range
In October 2020 a collector was able to acquire the work The Reception In The Kitchen Of The News Of Master Bobby Shandy’S Death by Edward Bird for USD 2,375.00 (€ 2,039.15). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master Paintings and Sculpture at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Bird achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The departure to London in March 2000 with an auction result of GBP 18,400.00 (€ 30,600.04).
