Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Self Portrait in a Turban by Edward Wadsworth was auctioned at Christies in London in October this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 70,000.00 – 100,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 75,600.00 (€ 86,809.80) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edward Wadsworth - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Imaginary Harbour I, which sold at auction in November 2016 for GBP 197,000.00 (€ 232,440.63).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Self Portrait in a Turban von Edward Wadsworth kam im Oktober diesen Jahres bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 70.000,00 – 100.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 75.600,00 (€ 86.809,80) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Edward Wadsworth mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Imaginary Harbour I beobachtet, die im November 2016 für GBP 197.000,00 (€ 232.440,63) versteigert wurde.
