Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Wet Afternoon by Ethel Spowers was sold in the The Age of SpeedThe Grosvenor School and the Avant-garde auction at Bonhams in London in December this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 20,480.00 (€ 23,592.18) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ethel Spowers - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Bank Holiday, 1935, which sold at auction in November 2020 for AUD 79,950.00 (€ 66,914.96).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Wet Afternoon von Ethel Spowers wurde im Dezember diesen Jahres in der Auktion The Age of SpeedThe Grosvenor School and the Avant-garde bei Bonhams in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 20.480,00 (€ 23.592,18) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Ethel Spowers mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Bank Holiday, 1935 beobachtet, die im November 2020 für AUD 79.950,00 (€ 66.914,96) versteigert wurde.
