Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Étienne Aubry could be acquired at Christies in London in March 2009 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Christie's Interiors - Masters & Makers auction, the work An amorous couple in an interior changed hands for GBP 937.50 (€ 1,010.95) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Étienne Aubry achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'La Turque', presumed portrait of Mademoiselle Duthé (1748-1830), mistress of the Comte d'Artois, full-length, reclining on an 'ottomane' in October 2018 with an auction result of USD 187,500.00 (€ 165,460.64).
