This artwork by Francesco Clemente achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in November last year. In the 21st Century Evening Sale auction, the work The Fourteen Stations, No. XII sold for USD 529,200.00 (€ 512,641.67) - well above the upper estimate of USD 300,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Francesco Clemente - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Fourteen Stations, No. XI, which sold at auction in May last year for USD 1,860,000.00 (€ 1,733,296.06).
