Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Imogen by Francis John Wyburd was auctioned at Christies in Sydney in May 2004, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of AUD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for AUD 7,170.00 (€ 4,189.20). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis John Wyburd achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Xarifa: the Zegri lady rose not, etc. in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 68,750.00 (€ 80,623.63).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Imogen von Francis John Wyburd im Mai 2004 bei Christies in Sydney versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für AUD 7.170,00 (€ 4.189,20) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francis John Wyburd erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Xarifa: the Zegri lady rose not, etc. im Juli 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 68.750,00 (€ 80.623,63).
