Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction Early British Drawings, Watercolours and Portrait Miniatures, which included the work A Lady Holding An Umbrella, A Windmill Beyond by François Louis Thomas Francia. The price achieved of GBP 4,625.00 (€ 4,857.60) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by François Louis Thomas Francia - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Chasse-marée (fishing luggers) making sail, off Calais, which sold at auction in January 2003 for GBP 8,365.00 (€ 12,811.95).

Im Dezember 2008 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Early British Drawings, Watercolours and Portrait Miniatures durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Lady Holding An Umbrella, A Windmill Beyond von François Louis Thomas Francia zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 4.625,00 (€ 4.857,60) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von François Louis Thomas Francia mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Chasse-marée (fishing luggers) making sail, off Calais beobachtet, die im Januar 2003 für GBP 8.365,00 (€ 12.811,95) versteigert wurde.
