Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Paris, 1993 sheet size measurements, etching dimensions variable by Frank Hodgkinson was auctioned at Bonhams in Sidney in June last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of AUD 1,000.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for AUD 615.00 (€ 587.45). Admittedly, works by Frank Hodgkinson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Kakadu, Last of the Wet in August 2003 with an auction result of AUD 7,050.00 (€ 4,164.80).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Paris, 1993 sheet size measurements, etching dimensions variable von Frank Hodgkinson im Juni letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in Sidney versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 1.000,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für AUD 615,00 (€ 587,45) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Frank Hodgkinson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Kakadu, Last of the Wet im August 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 7.050,00 (€ 4.164,80).
