79 carbon prints in various colours including blue (14), warm brown (1) and black and white (64), each 6 x 8in. (15.3 x 20.3cm.), printed on the 79 numbered cream card leaves, 2 with titles on the mounts, preceded by index leaf title page and list of the Weddell Sea Party, gilt edges, oblong 4°, leaf size 11 5/8 x 14½in. (29.6 x 37.3cm.), Contemporary blue half morocco gilt, spine in six compartments with raised bands, the bands high lighted with gilt tooling, gilt edges (scuffed).

Auction result well in line with expectations

The price achieved of GBP 30,000.00 (€ 44,027.20) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. Admittedly, works by Frank Hurley have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Photographs of Scenes and Incidents in connection with the happenings to the Weddell Sea Party 1914, 1915, 1916. in September 2006 with an auction result of GBP 120,000.00 (€ 177,025.30).
