A top price for Frans Ykens - as previously expected
The work Grapes on the vine, whitecurrants, blackberries, cherries and a walnut in a porcelain bowl with peaches, grapes and a walnut on a wooden table ledge with a large white butterfly by Frans Ykens was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2002. It changed hands for a price of GBP 77,675.00 (€ 119,235.01) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Grapes on the vine, whitecurrants, blackberries, cherries and a walnut in a porcelain bowl with peaches, grapes and a walnut on a wooden table ledge with a large white butterfly is the most expensive artwork by Frans Ykens that we have observed at auctions so far.
