In April 2011 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, which included the work Sheridan Square, New York by Franz Kline. The »bidding war« ended at USD 25,000.00 (€ 16,867.96), 25% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Franz Kline achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in November 2012 with an auction result of USD 40,402,500.00 (€ 31,054,957.72).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im April 2011 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sheridan Square, New York von Franz Kline zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 25.000,00 (€ 16.867,96) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Franz Kline erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ohne Titel im November 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 40.402.500,00 (€ 31.054.957,72).
