Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%

This artwork by Franz Xaver Winterhalter achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December last year. In the British and European Art: Online auction, the work Eugenie, Viscountess Esher, née Mayer (1814-1904) sold for GBP 35,280.00 (€ 39,827.68) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Franz Xaver Winterhalter achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Queen Olga of Württemberg, Grand Duchess of Russia in June 2006 with an auction result of GBP 1,072,000.00 (€ 1,551,166.13).

Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen

Dieses Kunstwerk von Franz Xaver Winterhalter erzielte im Dezember letzten Jahres bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion British and European Art: Online wurde die Arbeit Eugenie, Viscountess Esher, née Mayer (1814-1904) für GBP 35.280,00 (€ 39.827,68) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Franz Xaver Winterhalter erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Queen Olga of Württemberg, Grand Duchess of Russia im Juni 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.072.000,00 (€ 1.551.166,13).
