Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Mountains Of Asia Minor, From Rhodes by Frederic Leighton was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 35,000.00 (€ 38,427.67) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frederic Leighton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Golden Hours in June 2016 with an auction result of GBP 3,274,500.00 (€ 3,930,468.55).
