It achieved a price of AUD 43,200.00 (€ 24,444.12), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 23%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frederick McCubbin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sawing Timber in December 2007 with an auction result of GBP 731,700.00 (€ 994,256.19).

Die Arbeit Australian The Richmond Stone Crusher von Frederick McCubbin kam im Mai 2009 bei Sothebys in Melbourne zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von AUD 43.200,00 (€ 24.444,12) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 23%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Frederick McCubbin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sawing Timber im Dezember 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 731.700,00 (€ 994.256,19).
