Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work 'Negative #30 "Jack Rabbit"' by Frederick Sommer was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 13,860.00 (€ 11,521.20). Admittedly, works by Frederick Sommer have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work 'Livia' in October 2020 with an auction result of USD 69,300.00 (€ 59,500.30).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit 'Negative #30 "Jack Rabbit"' von Frederick Sommer im April 2021 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 13.860,00 (€ 11.521,20) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Frederick Sommer auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit 'Livia' im Oktober 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 69.300,00 (€ 59.500,30).
